The ZKM Karlsruhe is a globally unique cultural institution - experience a wide range of exhibitions and events on the subject of media art! The Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe is an institution of all media and genres, a house of space-based arts such as painting, photography and sculpture as well as time-based arts such as film, video, media art, music, dance, theater and performance. Founded in 1989 with the mission of continuing the classical arts into the digital age, the ZKM is sometimes referred to as the “electronic or digital Bauhaus” - a term attributed to its founding director Heinrich Klotz. By combining research and production, exhibition and performance, collection and archive, the ZKM is able to adequately reflect the development of art in the 20th and 21st centuries, not least because the ZKM's collection, exhibition and research activities are accompanied by symposia and other platforms for theoretical discourse between philosophy, science, art, politics and business. From the very beginning, the ZKM has taken on the task of creating innovative and favorable conditions for the creation of art. To this end, the ZKM's Hertz Lab works with guest artists and guest scientists from all over the world to research, develop and present artificial intelligence, augmented reality, virtual reality and many other current topics. This interplay of research and production activities as well as exhibitions and performances sets the ZKM apart from other cultural institutions. It is therefore much more than a museum, it is a center and a laboratory for the future. In addition to presentation and production, the ZKM is also dedicated to the preservation of interactive, digital media artworks and develops new technical methods for new forms of art.

The Kammertheater is a modern stage in a former bank with drama, musicals and cabaret as well as many famous actors such as Hugo Egon Balder, Susanne Pätzold (known from "Switch reloaded") or Richy Müller (e.g. "Tatort"). The private theater shares the listed building with the ALTE BANK restaurant, which serves delicious food and drinks - including in the beautiful beer garden in summer. A second venue, K2, was opened in 2013. A former church was converted into a theater for this purpose. The “new” theater in Karlsruhe is particularly popular due to its cosy and intimate atmosphere. K2 also offers drinks and snacks. Pupils, trainees and students receive a 30% discount on the regular admission price for all performances - with the exception of guest performances, special events and New Year's Eve. Proof of eligibility (pupil/student ID etc.) must be shown when purchasing tickets and at the performance.

“DAS SANDKORN - Theater & Mehr” is located in the listed Theaterhaus am Mühlburger Tor and has a firm place in the Karlsruhe theater landscape as a cabaret center and theater manufactory with its finger on the pulse of the times. A particular focus is on specially developed plays, both for the evening program and for children's and youth theater.
The stage is life - and the program is as varied and colourful as life itself. Guests are offered good entertainment, but an attitude is also important. It is therefore a major concern to also show serious, thought-provoking and stirring plays beyond the mainstream. As projects with social and integrative cohesion are very close to the Sandkorn's heart, it is particularly pleased that the integrative theater group D!e SP!NNER! has been based there for many years. The productions of the in-house youth club and the annual school theater week also find an enthusiastic audience here.
As an open house, it is pleased to have numerous artistic cooperation partners and has many top-class guest performances in its program that enrich the schedule. This means that guests can enjoy a diverse range of performances - whether musical highlights such as in-house music revues or top-class concerts, thought-provoking plays about socially relevant topics, children's and youth theater, political cabaret or readings. Pupils, trainees and students receive a discount on the regular admission price for all performances - with the exception of guest performances, special events and New Year's Eve.

© KTG Karlsruhe Tourismus GmbHThe Protestant City Church of Karlsruhe stands on the market square in the heart of the city and, with its striking columned portico, sets an important urban accent opposite the town hall. The episcopal church of the Protestant regional church in Baden was built in 1816 by Friedrich Weinbrenner, destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt in 1957 under the direction of Professor Horst Linde. With its excellent choirs and two outstanding organs, the Stadtkirche is considered an important church music center for the city and region with a wide range of concerts: choral concerts with vocal soloists and orchestra, a cappella choral music, contemplative music in church services, impressive organ music, e.g. as part of the International Organ Summer Karlsruhe and chamber music formats.
The Bach Choir Karlsruhe was founded in 1905 and has been under the artistic direction of KMD Christian-Markus Raiser since 1996. Large oratorio works are performed two to three times a year. Rehearsals take place on Tuesdays from 8pm to 10pm at Kreuzstr. 13. The CoroPiccolo Karlsruhe is the vocal ensemble of the Ev. Stadtkirche Karlsruhe and is suitable for singers with previous musical training. Rehearsals take place on Thursdays from 8 to 10 pm at Kreuzstr. 13. Are you interested?
