Baden State Theater Karlsruhe
The Baden State Theater in Karlsruhe is one of the largest multi-genre theaters in Germany. Its opera, ballet, concert, drama, youth theater, and digital theater departments create a rich and diverse cultural program on stage.
The State Theater is a state-funded institution whose mission is to make art and culture accessible to the public in accordance with the principles of liberal democracy. It creates a space for exchange and discourse for all those interested in culture.
Over 900 events per year take place in the four venues (Großes Haus, Kleines Haus, Studio, Insel), on guest performances or in special locations around the city. The Badisches Staatstheater is a crowd puller in the city for the city. It shines beyond Karlsruhe as a beacon: regionally, nationally, and internationally. On average, over 275,000 visitors are welcomed to the theater each year.
The State Theater employs over 700 staff and guest artists from 48 countries. As a major employer in the region, the multi-genre theater brings together over 100 extraordinary professions under one roof and offers a creative and international working environment in the heart of Karlsruhe. The repertoire allows for planned, sustainable work while also providing space for innovation. A central concern is to be open to all age groups, social classes, and, above all, different cultures in terms of programming, audience, and staff.
The State Theater sees itself as an interface between society, art, and politics and networks with other cultural institutions in Karlsruhe and the surrounding area. As a member of several European opera and theater organizations, the State Theater also has an international network.
