The Marotte Puppet Theatre has had a permanent stage in Karlsruhe since 1987 and is sponsored by the city of Karlsruhe and the State of Baden-Württemberg. The venue presents approximately 300 shows as part of its children’s and evening schedule. In addition, the theatre puts on guest performances all over Germany and Europe.

The Marotte is marked by its variety of performance media and repertoires. The spectrum spans from adaptataions of traditional fairy tales to theatrical versions of children’s books and even experimental live performances. The theatre uses a variety of figures like hand puppets, table-top figurines, shadow puppets, marionettes and other objects.
