As a result of climate change in south-west Germany, Karlsruhe is becoming warmer and drier. Large urban trees are often the first to be removed during infrastructure projects. At the same time, the low vitality of urban trees due to the effects of climate change, disease and premature ageing of trees sometimes also contributes to the premature removal of trees. At BRAIN BITES on 25 September from 12:30 to 13:30, Dr Somidh Saha will highlight the importance of large trees for cooling and maintaining biodiversity in urban areas and give an outlook on how to improve tree care.
