Oberwald Zoo
Oberwald Zoo was created in 1965 to make space in Karlsruhe zoo and the city gardens for the Federal Garden Show. Today it is an integral part of the city’s attractions and cultural offering.
Beschreibung
A large, enclosed, forested area not far from the city, now home to animals accustomed to all kinds of climates. The animals live in open enclosures, each measuring several thousand square metres. In total, the zoo covers nearly 40 acres.
The zoo is the ideal setting to observe animals in a natural habitat. Visitors can ride their bikes through the area, go for a walk, or even walk their dog (on a lead). Oberwald Zoo is intended to provide man and animal with an opportunity to enjoy the unspoilt nature of the forest. The open enclosures lie among natural, uncultivated woodland.
