Peace Church Weiherfeld

The Peace Church was built in 1949 from the rubble of the Karlsruhe town hall with a wooden supporting structure. It was part of a special reconstruction concept for churches developed by the Karlsruhe-born architect Otto Bartning. More than 40 churches were built in Germany after the Second World War - as "tents in times of need" with an architectural message that is still strong today.
