Volkshochschule Karlsruhe
vhs Karlsruhe e.V. is the largest further education institution in Karlsruhe and the region. In 2019, it organised 3,376 events with 94,861 teaching units and 43,958 participants.
The vhs Karlsruhe is the largest educational institution for general education and family topics and, as the largest language school in the region, also organises the most German courses. An extensive integration programme in the fields of culture and work complements the actual German courses on offer. In addition to the core vhs, we also run a school for adults with an evening secondary school and evening grammar school as well as an annual course in preparation for the external secondary school leaving examination. It is important to us that these school-leaving qualifications are permeable through accompanying bridging and support courses from the German course to a school-leaving qualification through to vocational orientation and qualification modules.
The vhs Karlsruhe was founded in 1947 and has strong links to the city of Karlsruhe through its board (cultural mayor and head of the cultural department) and its general assembly, in which eight local councillors are represented.
